Backbending Bliss Workshop

Join Heather for a workshop exploring some of the common backward bending poses you see in the Original Hot Yoga (Bikram) class, Hot Hatha, and Vinyasa. A great opportunity to take a deep dive into your practice.

Most of us spend a good portion of the day sitting, even when we are out exploring our backyard in Bend on bikes and kayaks. Sitting puts us in a forward slouching position and can create pressure on the back muscles and discs. Our spine’s health relies on maintaining a natural range of motion in all the directions, including backbending! It has been estimated that 80% of the population will experience back pain at some point in their lives. Backward bending can bring a vibrant life to your spine and discs. Let’s explore!

We will explore Standing Backbends, Cobra Pose, Bow Pose, Camel Pose, and Wheel (Upward Bow) in their many variations. It is up to you how far to take it. We will find ways to move your spine in its healthiest way, address common back pain issues, play with variations and find the right amount of depth for you.
